The Collection Story
(Polka- dots & Woman)
“The polka-dot has the form of the sun, which is a symbol of the energy of the whole world and our living life, and also the form of the moon, which is calm ,round, colorful l. Polka-dots are a way to infinity” Yayoi Kusama.
This description was the main inspiration of this collection since this description made the connection clear between polka-dots and women, as we always think of polka-dots as feminine and demure.
Polka-dots or patterns are repetitive like any life patterns or historical events like stereotypes, notion of oppression, and other themes of sexism and discrimination.
All these patterns become so ubiquitous in everyday life, to the extent that they’ve become almost invisible or at least not something we think about often.
The strong relation between the woman and the polka-dot has been emphasized in this collection as a strong message against these patterns and empowering all the women in our society to fight against them, by living the life they like, blooming and rising wherever they are.
